B!RTH Privacy Notice

General statement:

Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine (‘LSTM’) coordinates the B!RTH project. This privacy notice sets out how LSTM collects, uses and protects the information that you provide us with when you use this website, in downloading a play, completing a ‘Get In Touch’ form, or signing up to our newsletter.

LSTM is committed to ensuring that your privacy is protected and will only process personal data in accordance with the current Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulations (‘GDPR’) which are in force from May 2018. Should we ask you to provide certain information by which you can be identified when using this website, then you can be assured that it will only be used in accordance with this privacy notice.

LSTM may change this policy from time to time by updating this page. You should check this page from time to time to ensure that you are happy with any changes.

Purpose:

Your data is being collected in order to involve you in the B!RTH project, by sending you emails, copies of the plays, or other information about involvement in the project that you may have requested.

What information is being collected & what is the legal basis for collecting the data?

You may be asked to provide us with some or all of the following information at different places in the B!RTH website: name, email address, country, organisation, interest in the project.

We are collecting this data under the basis of you having given us your consent at the point of entering the information, in order for you to participate in the project we require this information from you.

Who is collecting it?

The B!RTH project team are collecting this information in order to administer the project, provide you with relevant information and to stay in touch with you.

How is the information collected?

The information is collected via internally and externally hosted forms on this website. When entering your information into these forms, you will be asked to confirm that you are happy to receive ongoing communications from B!RTH (in the case of the newsletter signup form, completion of the form is taken to indicate an interest in ongoing communications. If this is not the case you may contact us to clarify your preferences). Information may also be collected via your interactions with B!RTH staff members.

How is the information being used, stored and protected?

The information you supply will be used for:

  • Providing you with B!RTH materials which you have requested, including but not limited to play scripts, educational toolkits, and newsletters
  • Communications with about news of the B!RTH project, including events, new commissions, relevant global maternal health news
  • Internal analysis of B!RTH’s reach and audience demographics which will be used to evaluate the project’s effectiveness and shape our future work

Your privacy is extremely important to us and we are committed to ensuring that your information is secure. To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we have put in place suitable physical, electronic and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online and all information we hold about you.

 

Who will the information be shared with?

Your data may be shared with third parties who LSTM has carefully selected to carry out mailings on our behalf to manage mailings for us. Such third parties will not have permission to contact you directly.

Retention of data and updating your information:

LSTM has a retention schedule in place and retention of all our personal information is held in accordance with this.

How will the collection of the data affect the data subject?

It is extremely unlikely that there will be adverse effects to you as a result of the collection of your data.
